The Walmart Bakery Oven death case is getting highlighted after an Indian Sikh girl was found dead inside the walk-in oven at Halifax Walmart. The girl named Gursimran Kaur was an immigrant residing in Canada for three years. She worked as an immigrant worker at Halifax’s Walmart with her mother for the past 2 years. The daughter-mother followed the same shifts during which the incident took place. The case reported this 19-year-old woman as dead inside a room-sized oven. According to the sources, she already died before the oven could turned off.

Who Was Gursimran Kaur?

Gursimran Kaur was an immigrant from India. She came to Canada with her mother to build a better future. Gursimran was a 19-year-old girl from the Sikh community of India. She had a brother, mother, and father in her family. Her brother and father are living in India. While she was living in Canada with her mother. After the incident, the Sikh Community in Canada is raising funds through GoFundMe to bring her family to Canada. They are looking after her mother’s welfare post the incident. People are supporting the fundraiser where they collected above 75,000 Canadian dollars to support the family.

The Walmart Bakery oven Death case took place on the evening of 19th October 2024. Gursimran and her mother were working as usual in the evening shift. Her mother did not find her daughter for 1 hour. She tried calling her. Unfortunately, her phone was switched off. Gursimran rarely keeps her phone off. This made her worried and she started finding her everywhere in the workplace. She got to know that her daughter was inside the walk-in room-size oven at the workplace.

Gursimran’s mother immediately informed authorities. After several attempts, the oven was still on. After she was able to turn off the oven successfully, she opened the oven. Her daughter was completely burned. She passed away way before the oven turned off. This horrific incident changed her family’s life. The incident took place at 6990 Mumford Rd. Halifax at 9:30 pm.

The investigation is going on. Some details regarding the case are already public. While many things are yet not revealed due to security reasons. The company has shown sorrow for the incident. The store will remain closed until further notice. However, the investigation will continue. The Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration has also issued a stop work order for the bakery and piece of equipment on Tuesday, 22 October 2024.
