The Enforcement Directorate (ED) sent the summon to the Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for the ninth time regarding the money laundering case of a land scam. The summon was issued on 13 January 2024 asking the CM to appear for questioning on 29 January and 31 January 2024. However, the CM is busy in their state assembly’s budget session in the upcoming days. The ED has been giving summons repeatedly since last year. However, there has yet to be a response from CM’s side.

The ED sent its first summon to the Jharkhand CM on 14 August of the previous year for this land scam. It has been a long time since the ED’s summons are unanswerable. CM has not appeared for the questing after the repeated Summons from ED. The Enforcement Directorate mentions that Soren has to obey the summons. The land scam highlights the acquisition of army land through the illegal sale of land. It is around 7.16 acres of land in Bajra, Ranchi. There are a few other members involved in the case. One of them is IAS Officer Chhavi Ranjan. He is accused of involvement in this case. In this ongoing case, the ED arrived at his residence for questioning. They stayed from 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm in his house. However, as they left, CM got out of his residence to say something to his supporters.
He mentions that it’s all his people’s support that he becomes a CM from an Adivasi. No one can topple them without their permission. Many people gather in his support in the state. The CM has currently stated that he will remain busy in the state assembly’s budget session from 6 Feb to 29 Feb. Thus, things seem difficult ahead.
