Delhi Police impose section 144 in Delhi, declaring a 29-day curfew in the city for citizens’ security. The police will check every visitor entering the city in the upcoming days. Delhi Police mentions that the public may have a threat from the anti-social elements or terrorists during these days. The reasons for this are the two significant events going to take place in the country. The first reason is the Ram Mandir ceremony on 22 January 2024, Monday. The other is Republic Day on 26 January 2024, Friday.
Delhi police impose a curfew for 29 days due to the Republic Day celebration, continuing from 18 January 2024 to 15 February 2024. Under this security curfew, the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms will not be allowed. It includes paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned aircraft systems, micro-light aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-size powered aircraft, quadcopters, and para-jumping from aircraft.
The order is in force from 18 January 2024 to 15 February 2024. It can get removed earlier as well. However, until any further orders, the curfew will continue until the above-mentioned date. Along with it, the aircraft at Delhi International Airport won’t be allowed to take off or land between 10:20 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. It will continue from 19 January 2024 to 26 January 2024.
The security in the city will increase manifolds. Around 8000 police personnel will be on duty during the Republic Day parade. The police will keep checking all the hotels, hostels, and Dharamshala for security reasons near railway stations.
