The state is facing a violent situation. Many women went through misbehaviour and houses and vehicles were burnt. The state’s mobile internet ban was declared on 3rd May after the violence took place. All the mobile internet services were closed in the state for the last 5 months. The situation was improved a little by September 23. People got to use the internet services for 4 days after which, 2 students showed violence against security forces leading to the mobile internet ban again. It is continuing again from 26th September. The recent announcement has been made by the state government to extend the mobile internet ban till 31st October 2023. There has not been any further announcement about the services restarting yet. We will update you as the state resumes to the normal condition.
What Did the State Government Said About The Mobile Internet Ban?
The state government of Manipur has declared the mobile internet ban extension to 31 October 2023. While, Chief Minister, N Biren Singh has said that the services will be resumed in some days. The main reason behind the ban was to prevent some of the groups from posting any anti-social images and videos on the media. After the matter calmed down, there are still some incidents recorded that can cause big trouble at times. There are some civil protests which have been noticed.
Apart from this, there are also some students seen raising violence against the security forces. These situations often lead people to suffer a lot. The matter started with the 2 tribes and their areas distribution and it has increased and reached another level now.
